Young Leaders Group

From an inaugural membership roster of more than 100 individuals who donated gifts in excess of $200,000 in 2001, the Young Leaders Group (YLG) has grown to over 500 members who raised over $1.1 million for the 2009-2010 Campaign.

YLG is comprised of emerging area professionals age 45 and younger who represent our next generation of business and community leaders. Membership is extended to donors who contribute $1,000 or more annually. Connected by their interest to learn more about United Way’s role in advancing support for human and social services in Allegheny County, YLG members:

  • Serve as volunteers and advocates for United Way sponsored agencies and programs
  • Promote an understanding of the ways in which philanthropy plays a vital role in our community
  • Help create opportunities to shape their own charitable goals and the charitable goals of their peers
  • Provide opportunities to network and socialize as a group.

How do I Join?
The Young Leaders Group is designed so members can join as they begin and develop along their career paths. Membership is available to individuals or couples who donate an annual combined or single gift of $1,000 or more to United Way of Allegheny County.

Who leads this group?
YLG is led by a committee of volunteer members who are supported by United Way staff. The mission of the YLG committee is to identify and recognize young business, professional and community leaders who value the importance of philanthropy and who believe in and support the work of United Way of Allegheny County.
